AppCard Appointments

The AppCard Office is currently open by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, please make sure that you have submitted your photo per the instructions.

Once you have submitted your photo, you may schedule an appointment to pick up your photo. You must be logged in to your appstate email to schedule an appointment.

Lost Your AppCard? 

  1. Please log in to your appstate email 
  2. Email us at appcardoffice@appstate.edu.
  3. Make the subject line LOST AppCard with your Name, Banner ID and Date of Birth.
  4. Schedule an appointment on the Appcard calendar for pickup time.

* The $15.00 card fee will be charged to your student account to minimize person to person contact. For Faculty/Staff, the $15.00 fee can be deducted from their payroll. If you do not have a student account or payroll deduction, you can pay online.


The AppCard Office, part of Campus Dining, is responsible for issuing all AppCards. Whether you need your first AppCard or a Replacement AppCard, we are here to help.

Photographs

All AppCards require a photograph:

  • New students (attending Orientation for the 2020-2021 school year) may submit a photo following these instructions.
  • Photographs are made in the AppCard Office (this has been suspended until social distancing limitations have been lifted).
  • The name on the AppCard must match the name in Banner. Legal name changes must be verified by Admissions or Human Resources and updated in Banner prior to the person being issued a new AppCard.
  • There is a nominal fee for an elective replacement card. Click here for Costs & Fees.

Who Needs an AppCard?

The following persons are eligible to receive AppCards:

Current Students

  • AppCards are issued to all students upon their arrival on campus.
  • The general fees paid by students include the charge for the first AppCard.
  • There is a nominal fee for replacement cards. Click here for Costs & Fees.

Faculty & Staff

  • AppCards are issued to all faculty and staff on their first day of employment.
  • Employees must present an AppCard (Photo ID) Request Form available from the Office of Human Resource Services or the AppCard Office and employment will be verified.
  • New employees are issued the AppCard at no additional charge.
  • There is a nominal fee for replacement cards. Click here for Costs & Fees.

Retired Faculty & Staff

  • AppCards are issued to all retired faculty and staff upon request.
  • Retired employees must present an AppCard (Photo ID) Request Form available from the Office of Human Resource Services or the AppCard Office and retirement status will be verified.
  • Retired employees must turn in their old AppCard and are issued a new card showing retired status at no additional charge.

Dependents

Dependents of current students, permanent employees (faculty and staff) and retired employees qualify for an AppCard and associated privileges:

  • Dependents requesting AppCards must be accompanied by the student or employee and the appropriate forms must be completed.
  • Students requesting Dependent AppCards must be currently enrolled at Appalachian State University.
  • Employees requesting Dependent AppCards must be permanent (not temporary) or retired employees of Appalachian State University.
  • Dependents under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult while using university facilities.

Dependents of temporary employees are not eligible for AppCards and the associated privileges.


Who Qualifies as a Dependent?

App State defines dependents as:

  • Spouses
  • Domestic Partners: Two adults, not legally married, in an intimate and committed relationship who share the same address.
  • Children under 19 years of age living at home.
  • Children 19 years or older who qualify as a dependent for federal income tax purposes. Specifically, this means that the child is currently enrolled as a full-time student.

Dependent Privileges

Dependent Campus Cash

  • Students can set up and deposit funds into a Dependent Campus Cash account at the AppCard Office. Learn more about Campus Cash.
  • Campus Cash operates on a declining balance system and are accepted at various on-campus locations.
  • Campus Cash cannot be used off campus and funds cannot be withdrawn as cash.
  • Dependents cannot be linked to a student's Meal Plan or Campus Cash account.

Student Recreation Center Access

  • Recreation Facility access may be given to a student's dependent(s) only for the semesters the student is registered to attend.
  • Students must pay general fees to qualify.

NOTE: Each area of the university has the right to determine what services are provided to persons holding Dependent AppCards. Please address questions to individual areas.
